Writing, along with reading, are the two most powerful weapons we can give children to lay the foundations of their cognitive development. Our School Support program provides spaces for individual and group reading practise through weekly training exercises that help our beneficiaries to improve their reading process, to take dictation and to write words correctly.
Application of Vocational Guidance Instruments to new graduates
When young people think about which career to choose, they often fall into the indecision about what will be the best direction to take. The Foundation provides a Vocational Guidance service that includes a psychological test where the counsellor looks at the student’s profile corresponding to their abilities and interests. This service is provided to children who are in 11th grade and those who have finished high school and are still unclear about what they want to do.
Happy birthday Barranquilla
Today at the Foundation was super motivating. Ana Cecilia’s workshop group celebrated Barranquilla day, creating beautiful flags, singing the official hymn of the city and playing lots of games. In this way, we paid tribute to our beautiful city… Long live Barranquilla.
Initial screening
Medical examinations were carried out on the entire work team to identify any health conditions. There were also activities to raise awareness of healthy lifestyles.
Community Work Strengthens the School Support Program
When you give a little of what you receive, you demonstrate your human quality and social commitment. Therefore, we want to highlight the work of Brainer, who belongs to the Graduates program and is currently in the ninth semester of civil engineering. He improves mathematical competences for high school children through complementary workshops. Three of the youth group who chose the Foundation to do their 80 hours of literacy join this fantastic task, showing example of personal improvement to their peers.
Youth group serving the community
Community work makes it possible for all residents to get involved and contribute to an improvement in the quality of their lives. The youth group was taken to Soleded and there they put into practise their knowledge and skills with the children from the School Dining Room; developing artistic activities, such as story reading, painting, drawing, dancing and singing. The children loved it. Long live community development!
Its time to read
Learning must be meaningful and comprehensive and our reading project is designed to work on reading mechanics, speed, intonation, comprehension and is playful, creative and reflective.
Community link with the educational institutions
The psychosocial accompaniment program was taking a tour of all the educational institutions where our beneficiaries are enrolled, with the objective of carrying out an academic follow-up and a situational diagnosis of the social problems that can arise in the community at the school level.
Follow up to the higher education program
The psychosocial accompaniment program is responsible for making the link with the programs that are developed during the week. This time we were visiting some institutions of higher education where are children are studying, with the purpose of following up their academic and formative process.
