The Mi Ciudad Con Vida Foundation opened the doors of its site in the Lipaya neighbourhood, serving children, adolescents and parents by alternating, ensuring physical distancing and adhering to necessary biosecurity standards. Throughout the whole of Saturdays and on Tuesday afternoons, the children and young adolescents take part in the training program in life skills; on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the training is focused on the entrepreneurship and home gardens programs. It is important to clarify that a large part of the child population is being cared for in a virtual way, and only some boys, girls and young people are catered for in the headquarters facilities on the days of the week mentioned. We are grateful to the parents and other family members for supporting their children. |
Educational accompaniment and vocational guidance
Since the Articulation and Educational Accompaniment project, various vocational guidance activities have been carried out for beneficiaries who are about to finish their academic cycle. Counselling and other tools have been provided, such as the application of standardised tests to identify the areas of knowledge in which they may have the best chance of success, based on their skills and competencies. In addition, they received a virtual training by the University de la Costa about the different programs and scholarships to which they can apply. “The future also exists today in the person, in the form of ideals, hopes, plans and objectives” Abraham H. COMMUNITY PROJECTS START
After 7 months in which the pandemic placed us in a state of emergency and the priority revolved around food safety and biosafety measures, the Mi Ciudad Con Vida Foundation restarts the Psycho-affective intervention project virtually. This was usually held on Saturday mornings at the Lipaya Headquarters. Similarly, in this fourth quarter of the year, the Foundation has launched the Entrepreneurship project and the Conscious Cultivating project, which began in the community as of October 5. For this purpose, the team of professionals from the Mi Ciudad Con Vida Foundation was given the task of contacting beneficiary families in order to conduct surveys aimed at identifying interests and needs of the community and prior knowledge about each of the topics and projects mentioned. Once this work was done, schedules and days were established with each of the families to begin with the development of the activities proposed in each project. We warmly welcome our beneficiary families and invite them to join in with enthusiasm and commitment. |
The MCCV Foundation promotes educational processes
Due to the pandemic, various schools had to close leaving some children without education. Taking this problem into account, the Articulation and Educational Accompaniment project, run by the Mi Ciudad Con Vida Foundation, has selected pedagogical guides established by the Ministry of National Education so that these children continue to receive education from home. The beneficiaries will receive periodic monitoring to verify compliance with the activities.
In addition, we sent next year’s enrolment processes for educational institutions to all parents so that they could request and confirm their children’s places.
Launch of the project “Family Coexistence Based on Emotional Intelligence”
This week we launched the project “Family Coexistence Based on Emotional Intelligence”. It is aimed at boys, girls, young people and their families within the framework of the psychosocial intervention that the team of professionals usually performs in person on Saturdays in Lipaya. Due to the demands of the situation in which the Covid-19 pandemic has placed us all, this will now be carried out virtually. The project is a new design which gives the students the information in brief sessions and is then accompanied by recreational activities and the completion of work guides. The students and families will then show what they have learned During all of the years that the Mi Ciudad Con Vida Foundation has been present in the community, it has focused its intervention on promoting the development of psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills. We believe that these abilities guide our students towards personal and interpersonal actions which are necessary for the transformation of their environment and which in turn are therefore conducive to their overall physical and mental well-being. Training in values and life skills are the key to achieving this so today we restart our work with this project adapted to the new reality. Parents, children and young people, we give you a warm welcome! |
Launch of the project “Creating Sustainable Environments”
This week we launched a new home garden project through Facebook which will benefit families from Barranquilla and Soledad. At this launch, the project leaders and a young beneficiary told us about their environmental experience at the Foundation and how it has transformed their lives. |
Families follow nutritional guidelines at home
With the promotion of healthy habits, families put into practice the nutritional guides that the Chef sends them weekly through WhatsApp and Facebook, where they have the possibility to share their experience with these delicious and nutritious preparations. |
School Support follow-up
Using video calls, we did individual follow-ups with parents and children with the aim of reviewing the activities on the teaching syllabus and providing guidance to strengthen the school processes from the home. |
In alliance with Makro stores, the MCCV Foundation provides food aid to families in Barranquilla and Soledad
Today we delivered 160 parcels of top quality food products, donated by Makro Stores, to families in the Lipaya neighborhoods in Barranquilla and Nuevo Horizonte in Soledad. The support of partners has allowed us to continue protecting and supporting low-income families who, in the midst of the pandemic, have had to go through many difficulties at the nutritional and health level. This initiative invites other organisations to join this noble cause. Together we can bring a message of encouragement and hope to these families. Together we are more! |
CV and job interviews
This activity was aimed at the boys and their parents from the higher education program who are in the productive stage or who are about to enter the labour market. Our guest expert in recruitment gave them some recommendations on personal presentation, job interview and organisation of their Curriculum Vitae (CV) |
