In this environmental leaders session, responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance were emphasized. Groups were assigned to plant seeds and maintain the workshop area, as well as to monitor the growing plants. The seeds planted included cilantro, lettuce, bell pepper, and eggplant.
Strengthening our communication skills.
During this session at our Lipaya headquarters, activities related to communication, reading comprehension, and leadership were carried out. These activities were conducted in a playful and pedagogical manner, reinforcing life skills, and had the enthusiastic participation of our beneficiaries.
Week of fun and learning
This week, along with the team of environmental guardians, we continued with sessions of preparation, monitoring, and transplanting of seedlings in the garden. In addition, we carried out playful and pedagogical activities led by the youth environmental guardians for our children’s group, strengthening the development of life skills such as empathy and interpersonal relationships.
Great parents workshop
The first Orientation and Awareness Workshop for parents and guardians of our affiliates was held, with the aim of providing various spaces where they could reflect on parenting guidelines and the management of ICT, as well as the importance of recycling and global warming. Additionally, they participated in a healthy cooking workshop, where they learned about the importance of mindful and balanced eating and tasted different recipes.
Strengthening leadership skills
Participants in the Community Leadership project carry out experiential and practical exercises related to communication skills, teamwork, decision-making, and creativity. These aspects complement their training process for community work.
First seedling transplant session
This week, along with the team of environmental guardians, we continued to strengthen our knowledge of urban home gardens and moved our first plants to the field, promoting learning in agroecology and teamwork.
Human Rights Seminar with the Office of the Ombudsman
The youth from the Community Leadership project received a seminar from the Office of the Ombudsman. In this training space, they learned how human rights can be restored through public action. Furthermore, they were able to identify the national protection mechanisms that citizens have to demand compliance from the State.
Second day of the Workshop Classroom and home gardens
Within the Home Gardens project, the group of Environmental Guardians revisited concepts of home and portable gardens, their importance in daily life, the benefits for health and the environment. Additionally, we carried out preparation and seed planting work.
Morning of learning and lots of fun
The beneficiaries of the Mi Ciudad con Vida Foundation participated in various play-based educational activities on July 29th at the Barranquilla headquarters and a nearby synthetic field. Among these, activities related to emotional control and environmental awareness stood out, using art, sports, and educational cinema.
Community leaders participate in the GenerActor project
Young people from the Leadership project participated in activities of the GenerActor project, an initiative by the European Union and the Barranquilla City Hall aimed at training communities in urban agriculture, sustainability, and social cohesion. In this activity, representatives from the Community Action Board of the area, the Southwest Youth Network, students from the José Raimundo Sojo school, and the Mi Ciudad con Vida Foundation took part.
