The school support program is an activity aimed at training school-age children and involves the children attending various activities on the school day. They are guided and trained by people in the educational field in order to overcome any behavioural difficulties and achieve academic success.
Nutrition and a balanced diet
Good nutrition and a balanced diet helps children to be healthy, strong and willing to learn, therefore we focus on motivating our children to eat innovative, healthy and nutritious foods through delicious preparations and food presentation.
Celebrating Children’s day
Children’s Day was celebrated with a fair of values, where 12 recreational games were held, reinforcing in them team work, respect, honesty and understanding. Children participated actively, full of energy, fun and companionship.
Promoting active learning
Learning is a continuous process and goes at different rates in each human being. Therefore it is required to use teaching tools in which students have an active role. Through participation in class children can discover the meaning of learning any subject, especially in the area of mathematics, to identify if they understood the theme that is being taught in class.
Celebrating Children’s Day with the support of the Soledad Town Hall
The celebration of Children’s Day is an important date to highlight the rights of children. Throughout yesterday we had a beautiful celebration with pintucaritas, trampolines, colouring activities, dancing, contests, games to promote the care of the environment, prizes and refreshments – all with the support of the Municipality of Soledad and the EDUMAS (Establishment of Urban Development and Environment of Soledad) enabling 200 children from the neighbourhood Nuevo Horizonte to enjoy the festivities.
A sweet tradition
The Sweet Festival is an Afro-Colombian tradition whose origins lie in the 16th century in one of the oldest Cartagenero towns, San Bacilio de Palenque. Since Easter, families, friends and neighbours gathered to prepare and eat sweets. For this reason, today we had our first sweet festival! Made with the love of our children’s mothers for all the children in the dining room, who enjoyed these delicious and sweet experiences.
Sowing the seeds of environmental culture
The Guardians of the Environment group of the Foundation held a day of awareness about the importance of trees and the management of solid waste in the Nuevo Horizonte neighbourhood of Soledad. The community participated actively, integrating parents and children to the day. Excellent work!
Literacy, an important tool for academic success
Writing, along with reading, are the two most powerful weapons we can give children to lay the foundations of their cognitive development. Our School Support program provides spaces for individual and group reading practise through weekly training exercises that help our beneficiaries to improve their reading process, to take dictation and to write words correctly.
Celebration of March and April’s birthdays
The birthday celebration strengthens social skills and self-esteem in children. Therefore, every two months we all get together to share a beautiful birthday cake and best wishes.
Application of Vocational Guidance Instruments to new graduates
When young people think about which career to choose, they often fall into the indecision about what will be the best direction to take. The Foundation provides a Vocational Guidance service that includes a psychological test where the counsellor looks at the student’s profile corresponding to their abilities and interests. This service is provided to children who are in 11th grade and those who have finished high school and are still unclear about what they want to do.
