We are getting ready for Christmas and the end of the year! This weekend, our boys, girls, and young people had fun making crafts with recyclable materials, Christmas decorations for the home, and for the Christmas tree. In addition, we practiced some performances that we are preparing for our community. This will be a good end to the year.
Celebration of the Little Angels Day
A beautiful day filled with magic, joy, and fun was experienced by our boys, girls, and teenagers from the Lipaya headquarters during the celebration of the Day of the Little Angels. They had the opportunity to enjoy activities such as face painting, a bubble show, balloon twisting, and much more. In addition to sharing a moment of recreation and much happiness, they were able to reinforce their social skills.
Mindful Self-Care Workshop
With the support of a professional makeup artist and facial care expert, a mindful self-care activity was carried out for the parents and guardians of our affiliates. During this activity, they were provided with an awareness talk on self-care, as well as facial cleansing sessions, all aimed at promoting health and well-being.
Evaluation session
During this session, at the Lipaya headquarters, evaluative activities were carried out. Through Likert-type scales on life skills and the environment, we aim to measure the impact of the projects developed throughout the year on our affiliates. Likewise, a space for reflection and self-assessment was provided to them through fun contests and trivia.
Commemoration of Columbus Day
During this session, the boys and girls from the foundation participated in workshops that promoted equality, diversity, inclusion, and critical thinking. This was achieved through psychoeducation, the creation of an activity called “Race Crowns,” and a discussion titled “Expressing My Point of View.”
Community leaders participate in the forum “Voices with Value”
Young people from the “Community Leaders” project participated in the forum “Voices with Value,” a learning space where different perspectives on issues and common conflicts in communities were shared. In this activity, various public and private entities participated, including the Secretary of Government, the Formar Educational Corporation, the Family Commissioner, Police Inspections, the Ombudsman’s Office, Community Police, and the People’s Defender.
Learning session with volunteers from the Bolívar Davivienda Foundation.
This week, volunteers from the Bolívar Davivienda Foundation visited us to conduct strengthening workshops with the Youth Leadership Project. During the learning session, various topics were addressed, including tips for public speaking, personal presentation, how to create a resume, and the importance of technological tools in everyday life.
Learning and Art Session
During this session, our children and young people carried out community outreach activities, raising awareness about recycling and environmental care. Additionally, on this occasion, the youngest ones were able to enjoy spaces where art, imagination, and creativity served as channels to express their emotions.
Training session
During this session at our Lipaya headquarters, we received a visit from officials of the Colombian Civil Defense, who provided training on first aid to the Environmental Guardians and workshop leaders. These types of activities are important as they prepare us by providing the necessary tools for any eventuality and contribute to ensuring the overall safety of everyone.
Civic participation and community leadership
Young people from the Leadership Project had the opportunity to attend as guests to a Public Forum organized by “Fe y Alegría” to socialize early childhood services in the southwest of Barranquilla and to inform the community about how the allocated resources were invested and how much child population has benefited. With this experiential activity, we wanted to show the young people how civic participation and social control are exercised to ensure the fulfillment of the rights of a community.
