As a gesture of commitment and solidarity, our director (Nury Buendía) made an official visit to the Foundation. The visit aimed to explore new forms of cooperation and work for the benefit of the community. During her stay, she had the opportunity to meet with the leaders and key members of the Mi Ciudad con Vida Foundation, where they exchanged ideas and shared experiences about programs and projects carried out in areas such as education, health, leadership, and community development.
Partnership Renewal Extends Healthy Breakfast Program in Soledad
Our Nutritional Care Center, located in the municipality of Soledad, has renewed its partnerships with the Barranquilla Food Bank and Makro to extend its healthy breakfast program. Thanks to this social effort and collaboration with these key partners, a greater number of children will benefit. This renewal allows us to continue providing healthy options that ensure children start their school day with all the energy and readiness needed for learning.
Academic Strengthening: A Strategy for Student Success
This week we have launched our academic strengthening program, a comprehensive strategy that provides our beneficiaries with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities designed to enrich their learning, develop study skills, and receive socio-emotional support. Students receive personalized attention and have access to resources tailored specifically to their individual needs. This approach allows them to advance academically while strengthening their confidence in themselves and their abilities.
The visits to entrepreneurial families begin
“Familias Productivas e Incluyentes” is a real opportunity for vulnerable families to transform their lives through entrepreneurship. That’s why we start with reconnaissance visits to productive units to ensure the relevance of our support, fulfilling the needs and requirements of business and entrepreneurship ideas.
Morning of smiles and lots of learning
With the enthusiastic participation of children and youth, our workshop facilitators developed a series of activities designed to promote skills such as leadership, communication, and self-concept, stimulating the creative spirit of both young and old. From sports dynamics and memory games to artistic activities, every moment was filled with fun and learning. In addition to the activities, the children also received healthy and refreshing snacks at the end of the session.
Working in community
Our youth group of Community Leaders met with the Community Action Board of the Lipaya neighborhood to co-create and identify the opportunities, strengths, threats, and weaknesses of the area, in order to organize the community diagnosis objectively and participatively.
Launching of the 2024 Entrepreneurship Project
In an effort to empower mothers and fathers and promote economic inclusion, the Mi Ciudad con Vida Foundation resumes the project called Productive and Inclusive Families. The launch of this initiative was very well received by the community, and its goal is to stimulate entrepreneurial spirit through training, counseling, connecting entrepreneurs with sources of financing, and thus helping them build and/or strengthen their own businesses.
Week of reflection
At the Soledad headquarters, we carried out various activities focused on International Men’s Day. We worked with both male and female beneficiaries on positive male role models. Additionally, we provided a preamble to Easter, showcasing acts of reconciliation and love through images.
Building our action plan.
With recreational, artistic, and sports activities, we have begun the skills assessment process among our beneficiaries. This will enable us to provide community services that are relevant to the needs and expectations of children, youth, and adolescents in this year 2024.
Let’s learn about ancestral foods
This week at the Nutritional Care Center located in Soledad, we worked with beneficiaries to recognize the foods that were commonly used by our indigenous ancestors many years ago. Foods like corn and rice were considered essential and complete. Corn, for example, is the third most cultivated cereal in the world, as it contains numerous vitamins and minerals that benefit our metabolism.
