This Wednesday we resume the activities of the Educando en Casa project, at the Barranquilla Headquarters. The parents of the beneficiaries attended these activities in which the issues related to the distribution of tasks in the home, and the resolution of family conflicts were addressed. This project is important for a comprehensive intervention because the family is fundamental in the healthy development of children.
At the Mi Ciudad Con Vida Foundation, we do not forget the birthdays of our beneficiaries. This Saturday at the Lipaya Headquarters we shared and celebrated the birthdays of children and young people who have one more year of life up to the date. We are happy to always make our guys feel special!
This week at the Barranquilla Headquarters we had our first day of Vocational Orientation, aimed to young beneficiaries who are in their last year of secondary school. A scale of vocational preferences was applied to promote the construction of a life project and that our beneficiaries take into account their skills, interests, and aptitudes when choosing a technical, technological, or professional carrer.
In the Soledad headquarters we take advantage of this holiday season to develop different activities where the children of the Foundation explored their artistic skills, and additionally learned healthy habits that strengthen their socio-emotional development through a pedagogical booklet that guides the process. Crafts, drawings, dance, relaxation exercises, board games, reading stories, and adventures in the kitchen with fun recipes were part of this activity.
At the Barranquilla headquarters, the beneficiaries involved in the Huertas project begin to transplant lettuce, tomato, radish plants, and other plants from the seedbeds into the soil and portable orchards. The classroom workshop begins to germinate and grow. Young people with gardens at home carry out the same activities in their yards. During these activities, children not only promote environmental support, but also encourage socialization, teamwork, and creativity.
The youngest children of the psycho-affective group worked on topics about the family, the types of family, as well as playful activities to emphasize on union, teamwork, and concentration. The activity was called “crossing the river”, in which the children had to carry a ball on a spoon to the finish line, while crossing some obstacles.
This Saturday the boys and girls of the Environmental Guardians project of the Lipaya Headquarters had a pedagogical visit to the Botanical Garden of Barranquilla. During this day the beneficiaries made a tour where they met different species of plants and carried out recreational activities in the green spaces of the garden. Promoting these activities encourages children to raise environmental awareness.
In the Soledad headquarters, we had this week our Nutritional Workshop for Parents, carrying out different pedagogical activities to teach families the consumption and preparation of some vegetables that strengthen the immune system. As an example, we talked about Celery, which is rich in fiber and also has anti-inflammatory, expectorant, antibacterial and diuretic properties.
At the Lipaya headquarters, our beneficiaries part of the Environmental Guardians Group developed their creativity by creating recyclable pots, made with plastic bottles and painted in their preferred style. In them, they will plant seeds of tomato, carrot, paprika, radish etc.
Today in the Nutritional Care Center, of the Soledad Headquarters, we work clearly and simply on how often we should consume certain foods; using a stop light as a guide, we place in red the forbidden foods, in the yellow those that we must consume in moderation and in the green those that we can eat without any restriction.
