Despite all the difficulties that have arisen during the pandemic related to the lack of access to technological resources and connectivity, our students from the Higher Education Graduates program continue with their studies, taking their classes from home.
The Foundation accompanies them in this process through orientations focused on academic permanence.
The students teach us that with effort and perseverance, there are no such things as impossible dreams
Follow-up to the inclusion program
This week we started monitoring the beneficiaries of the Inclusion Program by phone. Through the information provided by parents and educational institutions, we reviewed their academic status and how they are managing their educational processes from home.
Make your own face mask
This week we focused on self-care and creativity with the teacher Natividad, who taught the families to make their own face masks through Facebook. A very useful biosecurity implement in times of pandemic.
The families had to send us evidence of their participation, sharing their experience
Permanent Nutritional Accompaniment
Week by week, our chef Jaime Buendia, an expert in healthy cooking, shares delicious, inexpensive and easily prepared recipes with families through social networks in order to continue eating habits at home that contribute to healthy nutrition.
Likewise, the children have the task of sending photos and videos making these dishes and sharing them with the whole family.
Healthy cooking workshop, preparing granola at home
This week we were strengthening the nutritional support for our families through a healthy cooking workshop led by our nutritionist Ana Cecilia Rondon. Using our official Facebook page, Ana taught the children to prepare granola at home as a healthy and affordable children’s snack or breakfast.
In addition, the children shared their videos and photos showing the preparation process and the experience of eating it as a family, remembering our motto… I decide to eat healthy, I want to live healthy and happy!
Academic monitoring
During this week the children have been followed up with phone calls to educational institutions and to the parents who are homeschooling. Bulletins were requested for the week in order to know the academic results and identify specific cases that require attention.
Environmental guardians looking after the planet
This week we celebrated International Environment Day with a lovely competition where children made drawings and crafts from recyclable material, showing the transformational process of plastic, cardboard and other materials.
The most creative works were awarded with an environmental art kit consisting of a primer in biodegradable material which contained mandalas and messages inviting them to care for the environment, ecological pens so that they continue to develop their creative skills and in turn continue to contribute to the care of nature.
Love nature, study it and be amazed by it every time you take care of it, because it will surprise you!
Zumba with Katy
Zumba with Katy was an initiative of the Psychosocial Intervention Program to promote physical activity and the integration of families through social networks. It consisted of following the instructor’s steps, uploading a video or photo showing active participation from the family and then to tag the foundation.
For a quarantine without hunger
The Covid-19 crisis has challenged us as humanity and we are called to social awareness and teamwork.
An example of this social leadership is the support of the Realianz company, the Amor Por Locombia initiative and donations from a group of people and families from the Barranquilla community who have joined this campaign.
Together we have been able to bring food to low-income families, who during this pandemic have been exposed not only to contagion and hunger but also to the violation of the rights of children and young people to education because they do not have digital resources for home classes.
Thank you for bringing a message of hope to the most vulnerable families through these foods.
Together we will be able to overcome any challenge! Join our campaign and create a change in our society.
Socio-emotional support in times of quarantine
Throughout quarantine, we have maintained communication with our children’s families. Through phone calls and social networks we provide support and guidance on the following:
How to quarantine together with children and adolescents at home, school activities from home, how to organise time, involve children in household activities and thus maintain a healthy coexistence for all family members.
In addition, we have communicated self-care measures, hospital care routes, restrictive measures and benefits of social programs offered by the government through the different municipalities.
If we maintain positive emotions we will create a healthy coexistence for everyone!
