We continue to reap the fruits of our Community Leadership project; these young people who grew up at the Foundation are now essential protagonists of the work we do with the community and are part of our Generational Succession plan.
We began our Vacation Workshops
Learning can be fun! We have started our vacation workshops in the Lipaya neighborhood, where exploration, experimentation, and play will be the learning strategy. And as a plus, the teachers are the youth from the Community Leadership group.
Solidarity Closet
We held our Solidarity Closet, where the Lipaya neighborhood community was able to access clothing, books, and useful items in good condition at symbolic prices.
These types of activities seek to promote a circular economy and responsible consumption, while also providing access to basic resources for community members.
Thank you to everyone who made donations and to our Community Leadership group who took care of the logistics.
Organization of our “Solidarity Closet” event
With willing hands and committed hearts, our young people took part in organizing and sorting the donations that will be part of the upcoming Solidarity Closet 💙
Clothes, books, and useful items were carefully selected by our youth leaders, thanks to the generous support of those who believe that reusing is also an act of love and awareness.
This day was much more than a logistical task—it was an opportunity to strengthen communication, learn to delegate, plan as a team, and take on responsibilities. Because when we work with respect and purpose, every action becomes a seed of transformation.
Interview day in the community
This weekend, the boys and girls from the Community Leadership project went out into the neighborhood to make door-to-door visits. They knocked on doors, talked with families, and listened to how the children are doing at home.
With simple questions and a lot of willingness, they showed that leadership is also about being present, listening carefully, and building trust through everyday actions 🫂
During the visits, there was also space for inclusion. In one of the interviews, Bryan, one of our young leaders who is deaf, conducted an interview in Sign Language with a mother who shares the same condition 🦻. It was a simple but meaningful moment that reminded us of the value of having diverse leaderships that connect through empathy and lived experience.
Every step these young people take strengthens the bond we value so deeply—the one built between the Foundation, the beneficiaries, and the families we work with every day.
Growing Together: Families and Youth Who Transform
Today, our Community Leadership group had the opportunity to lead an experiential activity with the parents’ assembly at the Lipaya branch.
It was a valuable space where they put into practice the skills they’ve been strengthening throughout their process: planning, teamwork, communication, and commitment to their community.
We also took the opportunity to celebrate Mother’s Day and share the new paths the Foundation is taking, highlighting the importance of walking together as a community.
We continue to believe in the power of young people to create real change through simple yet meaningful actions.
Home visits
This week we visited several of the families that are part of our programs. We know that emotional well-being also begins at home, which is why we continue strengthening ties with family, community, and institutional support networks.
We listened, offered support, and shared moments that remind us why we do what we do: because behind every child there is a story, a family, and a dream that deserves to be nurtured.
Self-awareness and life project
With our Community Leadership group, we experienced a very special space to connect with our stories, recognize what has shaped us, and envision the future with greater clarity.
Through a life timeline, reflection, and dialogue, we discovered how our values, wounds, and learnings influence the decisions we make today.
Sharing our stories also allowed us to build bonds based on respect and empathy.
Because every encounter with our story gives us the strength and clarity to move forward with purpose.
Collective building with our Community Leaders
We held a meeting with our Community Leadership Group, where we analyzed teamwork and reflected on the Foundation’s impact in our communities.
Through a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), we identified together what we’ve achieved, the challenges we face, and how we can continue improving.
In a space for dialogue and consensus, each voice contributed their vision to keep transforming our organization and the Community Leadership project.
We’ve begun using forms to rebuild our collective memory
As the next step in rebuilding the Foundation’s Collective Memory, we’ve begun distributing virtual forms to various members of our organization, including staff, volunteers, partner institutions, alumni, and beneficiary families.
These forms will help us gather the voices of everyone who has been part of our Foundation throughout these 25 years of history.
Most of the surveys are being conducted virtually, but with our families, we’ve gone a step further: we’re visiting their homes to learn firsthand about their experiences and memories.
Let’s remember that this Collective Memory Reconstruction is a key part of our Strategic Planning process, because to envision our future, we must first understand and value our past. And by applying sociocracy, we ensure that all voices are taken into account to strengthen our identity and collectively build the path we want to follow.
