The children from the Soledad site experienced an exciting educational outing, promoting mental and physical health in a different setting, where they could play in the park, engage in various motor coordination exercises, dance, and participate in a mixed football match that encouraged healthy competition and teamwork.
Morning of relaxation and emotional self-regulation
From the psychosocial support program, activities promoting the mental health of our boys and girls are conducted. This time, we had the support of Academia Sandra to organize a spa session that included body massages, relaxing music, and aromatherapy, aiming to generate a state of well-being and emotional self-regulation.
Educational articulation processes that promote integral development
From the educational articulation program, periodic visits are made to educational institutions to verify the attendance of all beneficiaries, contributing to the reduction of school dropout rates. This week, we visited six institutions in the municipality of Soledad, including Jorge Artel and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Self-esteem and well-being session
This week at the Soledad headquarters, we wanted to highlight the work of the mothers in the social volunteering program with a facial cleansing session, a space for recreation, relaxation, and self-esteem to remind them how important and valuable they are to us. For this activity, we had the support of the Academia Sandra Foundation.
Let’s learn different ways to preserve fruits at home.
This week in our nutritional workshop for parents, we learned preservation methods for fruits. This is a food security strategy to reduce food waste and simultaneously take advantage of fresh produce during harvest season by purchasing enough to store. Additionally, parents were able to enjoy a delicious and healthy dessert made with preserved fruits.
We started training processes with SENA.
This week, the psychosocial support program initiates training processes for parents in partnership with the National Learning Service (SENA), aiming to promote social integration, empowerment, and employment opportunities.
Sharing experience with Meline
This week at the Soledad headquarters, we were joined by Meline, a special guest with excellent charisma, who came from France to share with us her experience in Colombia and teach us a bit about French culture. She also taught us some French words and the names of fruits and vegetables commonly consumed in her country.
Educational activities that reinforce the nutritional process
Today, the nutrition team from the Food Bank and the University of the Atlantic accompanied us to teach the boys and girls in the food security program how the healthy plate of the Colombian family is constituted. They also conducted the second nutritional screening of the year as a follow-up to the nutritional recovery process and gave all beneficiaries a beautiful gift to remind them how important it is to include vegetables in our diet.
We continue learning about food
Today, the boys and girls in the food security program carried out a meaningful activity related to food groups and the contribution they make to our bodies, enabling us to perform daily activities such as studying, walking, running, and jumping. The activity was conducted with images that they could associate according to their classification: builders, energy providers, and regulators.
Alliances for social strengthening
This week, students and teachers from the University of the Coast accompanied us to begin a research project on the analysis of executive functions and social behavior in children aged 6 to 12. This type of research allows us to identify possible psychosocial risks and valuable information for the creation of strategies to strengthen the social development of our beneficiaries and their families.
