Our youth group of Community Leaders met with the Community Action Board of the Lipaya neighborhood to co-create and identify the opportunities, strengths, threats, and weaknesses of the area, in order to organize the community diagnosis objectively and participatively.
Launching of the 2024 Entrepreneurship Project
In an effort to empower mothers and fathers and promote economic inclusion, the Mi Ciudad con Vida Foundation resumes the project called Productive and Inclusive Families. The launch of this initiative was very well received by the community, and its goal is to stimulate entrepreneurial spirit through training, counseling, connecting entrepreneurs with sources of financing, and thus helping them build and/or strengthen their own businesses.
Week of reflection
At the Soledad headquarters, we carried out various activities focused on International Men’s Day. We worked with both male and female beneficiaries on positive male role models. Additionally, we provided a preamble to Easter, showcasing acts of reconciliation and love through images.
Building our action plan.
With recreational, artistic, and sports activities, we have begun the skills assessment process among our beneficiaries. This will enable us to provide community services that are relevant to the needs and expectations of children, youth, and adolescents in this year 2024.
Let’s learn about ancestral foods
This week at the Nutritional Care Center located in Soledad, we worked with beneficiaries to recognize the foods that were commonly used by our indigenous ancestors many years ago. Foods like corn and rice were considered essential and complete. Corn, for example, is the third most cultivated cereal in the world, as it contains numerous vitamins and minerals that benefit our metabolism.
Cultivating harmonious relationships
Today, the talk on nonviolent communication, fostering a climate of trust, respect, and cooperation between children and adults, was held with the support of Labimag. Key techniques were shared to promote constructive and respectful dialogue in various situations, such as the importance of active listening and expressing needs clearly and empathetically. Attendees left with a new approach to addressing difficult conversations and nurturing more harmonious relationships.
Community leaders participate in community fair.
This Saturday, the Community Leaders group participated in the Girls’ Voices Fair, showcasing female leadership in our projects to various social organizations working for youth. It was an event organized by the Young Women’s Network of the Atlantic in commemoration of International Women’s Day.
A Warm Welcome to Our Beneficiaries, With Open Arms!
At an emotional event filled with smiles and hugs, we welcomed 150 children and young people from the community. With fun ludic-pedagogical activities and a delicious breakfast, the foundation’s team greeted the children and youth with enthusiasm and warmth. The children were invited to participate in various activities where they could integrate, meet the entire team, and also learn about the projects they will be part of in 2024.
Nutritional Assessments 2024
We start with the nutritional assessments of the boys and girls in our Food Security Program at the Soledad headquarters. These assessments are conducted every semester with the aim of identifying nutritional risks and contributing to the monitoring and recovery of the beneficiaries. The activity was carried out in collaboration with the Barranquilla Food Bank and the Nutrition Program of the University of the Atlantic.
Committed families, protected childhood!
We begin this 2024 with great enthusiasm and dynamism, thanks to the attendance of over 60 families at the welcome, socialization, and official opening session of the projects aimed at our beneficiaries.
