This week, in the nutritional workshop for parents offered by the Food Security program at the Soledad headquarters, we were joined by the team of nutritionists from the Food Bank and the University of the Atlantic, who, along with our expert chef in healthy food, Jaime Buendía, taught attendees how to prepare a healthy and low-cost lunchbox for children to take to school.
Laboratory tests as part of the Nutritional Assessment
This week, a sampling session was conducted through a partnership established with Pasteur Laboratories as part of the nutritional monitoring carried out for the children enrolled in the Food Security Program implemented at the Soledad headquarters.

Partnership Renewal Extends Healthy Breakfast Program in Soledad
Our Nutritional Care Center, located in the municipality of Soledad, has renewed its partnerships with the Barranquilla Food Bank and Makro to extend its healthy breakfast program. Thanks to this social effort and collaboration with these key partners, a greater number of children will benefit. This renewal allows us to continue providing healthy options that ensure children start their school day with all the energy and readiness needed for learning.
Week of reflection
At the Soledad headquarters, we carried out various activities focused on International Men’s Day. We worked with both male and female beneficiaries on positive male role models. Additionally, we provided a preamble to Easter, showcasing acts of reconciliation and love through images.
Let’s learn about ancestral foods
This week at the Nutritional Care Center located in Soledad, we worked with beneficiaries to recognize the foods that were commonly used by our indigenous ancestors many years ago. Foods like corn and rice were considered essential and complete. Corn, for example, is the third most cultivated cereal in the world, as it contains numerous vitamins and minerals that benefit our metabolism.
Nutritional Assessments 2024
We start with the nutritional assessments of the boys and girls in our Food Security Program at the Soledad headquarters. These assessments are conducted every semester with the aim of identifying nutritional risks and contributing to the monitoring and recovery of the beneficiaries. The activity was carried out in collaboration with the Barranquilla Food Bank and the Nutrition Program of the University of the Atlantic.
We start with our healthy route.
This week we began the food services at our Nutritional Care Center, where we welcome our boys and girls with a symbolic healthy route, in which at each step we describe the importance of proper nutrition. With this pedagogical strategy, we wanted to show the children all the things we will learn this year.
Welcome to Parents 2024
This week at the Soledad headquarters, we welcomed the parents. During this session, a space for participation was opened where parents expressed the current issues present in the neighborhood. Some suggestions for activities for the projects to be worked on this year arose, and candidates were selected for the parents’ committee. Additionally, the coexistence manual was shared, and commitment agreements were signed for its compliance.
We continue with the home visits
The psychosocial support program continues with home visits to select boys and girls who would be entering this year to be part of the Food Security project.
